The Indiana Pacers were the first team to advance to the Conference Finals and await either the New York Knicks or the Boston Celtics. Their core of Tyrese Haliburton, Myles Turner, and Pascal Siakam has made the Conference Finals two seasons in a row, and are expected to all remain in Indiana.
Turner is the only major free agent that Indiana has this offseason, and a recent report suggests he will re-sign with the Pacers, snubbing both the Lakers and Warriors.
In mock drafts before the report came out, the Pacers were linked to centers and power forwards like Thomas Sorber and Joan Beringer.
If Turner re-signs, backup bigs Isaiah Jackson, James Johnson, and Thomas Bryant will all likely sign elsewhere or retire after this season, meaning Indiana will need to address a hole in the frontcourt anyway. Sorber and Beringer are both solid options, as are Rocco Zikarsky, Alex Condon, and Danny Wolf.
This season, the Pacers ranked 27th in rebounds per game and allowed their opponents to shoot 55.1 percent inside the arc, good for the ninth-worst in the league. On top of that, they ranked 26th in opponent paint points per game.
While Turner seems to be the starting center for the future, the Pacers need depth in the frontcourt and insurance in case Turner gets injured. On top of that, Turner is four years older than Haliburton, and adding more youth to the roster around the star guard could be a priority.
Hopefully, Turner will re-sign, and all indications suggest he will, but with their first-round pick in a draft with plenty of center talent, the Pacers can shore up an area of need.
