Pep Guardiola has been warned Crystal Palace have the firepower to hurt Manchester City and leave them without a trophy this season. City won the Premier League last term but have endured a difficult campaign this time around as Liverpool romped to the title instead.

Guardiola will be desperate to beat Palace and secure some silverware to ensure a miserable season - they are yet to qualify for the Champions League - ends on a high. Oliver Glasner and Palace will have other ideas and their front three of Eberechi Eze, Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr pose a big threat to City’s backline.

Yohan Cabaye, who was part of the Palace side that lost the 2016 final to Manchester United, said: “Pep Guardiola might be thinking about how Crystal Palace have caused his side problems this season, having been in front in both matches, and for sure, it won’t be easy for City.

“I think the main threat is up front for Crystal Palace, obviously, I’d have to go for Eberechi Eze.

"But he’s not the only player that Guardiola will need to worry about. Jean-Philippe Mateta is in good form, he’s having a really good run at the moment.

“As well as that, Ismaila Sarr is an important part of the front three, for me, so it could be a really important factor in the game. It’s really interesting.”

Crystal Palace's front three can cause Manchester City problems

Palace have given City a scare already this season. The Eagles led twice at Selhurst Park before Guardiola’s side rescued a point in a 2-2 draw back in December.

Then City needed to fight back from two goals down to win 5-2 in the return game at the Etihad last month.

Glasner has worked wonders at Palace this season and a trophy would be a reward for his and his side's progress.

Cabaye added: “It’s a big achievement in itself to stay in the Premier League and to keep improving, year after year.

"We can recognise that they’re an attractive place now for players to come, and that they’re strong in the league right now.

“That’s important, of course, but at the end of the day, the fans want a trophy, and I hope it will come for them this weekend, even if it’s a really difficult game against Manchester City, a really tough game.”
