Manchester United suffered their 18th defeat of the Premier League campaign against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.
The Red Devils started the game on a positive note and were unlucky to not find the net early on.
Harry Maguire was denied a brilliant goal by VAR due to a marginal offside decision.
United struggled to replicate the performance after the break. Marc Cucurella eventually scored the winner for the Blues in the 71st minute.
Looking at the performances, Rasmus Hojlund was once more disappointing lead the line.
We had anticipated Chido Obi to start against the Blues with Hojlund being rested for the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur next week.
However, manager Ruben Amorim kept Hojlund up top for the full 90 minutes. The 22-year-old failed to make any sort of impact for the Red Devils.
The £38 million-rated star managed just 11 accurate passes and lost possession on 13 occasions.
He won just two out of 11 ground and aerial duels contested and did not complete a dribble.
Hojlund’s form is a huge concern leading up to the Europa League final showdown at San Mames.
Spurs have their main centre-backs in Sergio Romero and Micky van de Ven fit for the final. The duo could outmuscle the Dane in the final third.
Amorim is unlikely to experiment with a false nine in the fina. We can expect Hojlund to start upfront with Chibo Odi ineligible and Joshua Zirkzee injured.
Hojlund has to step up against Spurs in Bilbao. Another poor outing could lead to questions over his future at United beyond the summer transfer window.
