West Ham’s James Ward-Prowse admits he’s not had “the best season” as he prepares to face Nottingham Forest.
Ward-Prowse joined Forest on a season-long loan from the Hammers back in September, but was recalled from the City Ground in February having played just nine times for the Reds in the Premier League.
He has played 12 times in the top flight since returning to West Ham under Graham Potter and is set to face Forest at the London Stadium on Sunday (2:15pm).
Speaking to the club ahead of the match, as he reflected on reaching a landmark 400 Premier League appearances, Ward-Prowse said: “It’s not been the best season for me personally, but one big positive has been making my 400th Premier League appearance.
“It’s something my family have been big on in particular, and they let me know about it in the lead-up to the Brighton game.
“It’s a really special milestone, because you start out as a kid just wanting to make your Premier League debut, to score a Premier League goal and things like that.
“So, to be sat here now having made 400 appearances in the division makes all the sacrifices, the work and the dedication over the years feel like it’s all been worth it. It’s a special achievement, and I’ve already got my eyes on 500, now.”
“We just want to finish the season off in style for them (the fans) now, starting against Nottingham Forest on Sunday,” he added, with West Ham having struggled this season and currently 15th in the table.
