Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has bizarrely been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks.
Sandro Tonali is going NOWHERE. Let’s make that clear from the outset here.
The Newcastle United midfielder is an absolute star. He’s been the catalyst for transformation on Tyneside, with his introduction to the No.6 role - after training to be an eight for more than a year - has been just the tonic for Howe and the Magpies. His shift, allowing Bruno Guimaraes to move further forward is possibly the turning point of the whole campaign, which has the potential to be the best for a century, if Newcastle can add a second-placed finish to their Carabao Cup triumph.
Does it make any sense? Not really in a footballing capacity. Newcastle will not sell any of their crown jewels this summer, unless one wants to leave, which is unlikely at this stage. And even if Man United will a trophy this year, and make the Champions League, Newcastle is still a place that appears on a more upward trajectory, even without the silverware-laden history.
And while we’re saying the Italian will not be heading to the North West, his soon-to-be wife has caused a stir on social media this week, even if, as we suspect, there is nothing sinister about the picture. It hasn’t stopped some believing it has fuelled rumours.
As seen below, Juliette Pastore shared a snap of her enjoying an Italian meal - nothing out the ordinary, I hear you say - on her Instagram, but she also tagged in the restaurant. San Carlo. And where is San Carlo? Manchester. You do the math, plenty on socials have been, too, even if it’s almost certainly putting two and two together to make 10.
Funny what a pic of a plate of pasta can do to football fans online, eh?

Their website states: “Situated on King Street West, this restaurant is known for its exceptional service, lively ambiance, and meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing an unforgettable experience every time you visit. Recognised as one of the best Italian restaurants in Manchester city centre, it’s unsurprising that San Carlo has become a favourite dining spot for celebrities in the city.”
Who is Sandro Tonali’s partner, Juliette Pastore?
Tonali and Pastore first met in 2019, while he was still a player in Serie B with Brescia. While we all know Tonali’s talents, Pastore, too, is also popular in her own right. She boasts more than 123,000 followers on Instagram alone, and could well be classed as an influencer.
She regularly shares shots of her modelling work for the likes of DoDo Jewels and Intimissimi, as well as showing shots of food and fashion from across her travels in Europe. Pastore is also a fashion entrepreneur, who owns her own clothing label called Juliette.24 Club.
The pair are engaged to be married, with Tonali proposing to Pastore earlier this year. Pastore confirmed the pair will wed in July this year.

Arsenal v Newcastle United - injury news
While Tonali, we expect, will be fit and well to take on the Gunners, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe is expected to rule Sven Botman out of the clash. The Dutchman has a knee problem, that saw him removed from the field in last weekend’s 2-0 win over Chelsea.
It was a bitter blow for the player, who has played so little football in the last two seasons at United due to various issues with both knees. And it is a blow, too, for Howe and the team, who take on Arsenal at the Emirates in what looks like a shoot out for second spot in the Premier League. If the Magpies win, then beat Everton on the final day, they are guaranteed their best ever finish in the top flight since 1997.
Howe will also be without Lewis Hall, while the status of Joelinton, Kieran Trippier and Joe Willock is yet to be determined. Jamaal Lascelles is back, and was among the United substitutes against Chelsea after 13 months out.
