Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has already made his feelings clear on Marcus Rashford, as the forward is expected to leave the club on a permanent basis this summer.

The 27-year-old, a product of United’s youth academy, has made over 420 appearances for the club across all competitions. However, his relationship with United has soured over the past 12 months, ultimately resulting in a January loan move to Aston Villa.

Rashford has experienced something of a resurgence in Claret and Blue, scoring four goals and providing six assists in 17 appearances. However, his season appears to have come to an early end due to a hamstring injury, meaning he has likely made his final appearance for Villa.

The forward will return to his parent club this summer, but MEN Sport reported this week that United have no plans to reintegrate him into the squad under Ruben Amorim. Rashford will reportedly be available for £40 million, though Villa do not hold first refusal.

The player is said to prefer a move to a Champions League club and is even willing to take a pay cut to make that happen. With a permanent departure now the most likely outcome, Ratcliffe has already acknowledged that the relationship between Rashford and the club has not worked for some time.

With little interest from the United hierarchy in keeping him at Old Trafford, a sale has long been on the cards.

"He's moved out of Manchester, and maybe that's a good thing for him," the British billionaire explained in an interview with the BBC back in March. "I am very pleased he is doing well.

"It's good to see because he has got tremendous talent, but for whatever reason, it wasn't working in Manchester for the past couple of seasons. But he is a very talented footballer, Rashford."
