Ruben Amorim Wants New Goalkeeper, Utd Set To Block His Plans

According to fresh reports, Manchester United’s top bosses will likely overlook summer plans of Ruben Amorim. Meanwhile, they have their sights set on three to four key transfers this summer.

Goalkeeper Plans on Hold for Ruben Amorim

Ruben Amorim wants to bring a new shot stopper in the squad. He wants a new shot stopper at the back next season. Manchester United just spent £47 million on Andre Onana last summer. However, he has come under fire for his poor performances and costly errors.

Onana is great with the ball at his feet. But, his decision-making have let the team down on multiple occasions. The manager believes bringing in a more dependable keeper like Porto’s Diogo Costa or Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. They could bring the much-needed stability to Utd’s leaky defence. Their mistakes at the back have already costed them 53 goals in 36 Premier League matches this season.

However, Utd’s board is not on the same page. Their technical director Jason Wilcox is reportedly not considering to bring in a goalkeeper.. It will only happen unless Onana pushes for an exit. That seems unlikely as he wants to prove himself in England.

Only two Man Utd managers have reached a major European final in the first season in charge.

Midfield and Attack Take Centre Stage

The club’s transfer team wants to focus on other positions. A new playmaker, striker, and central midfielder are at the top of United’s wish list.

They are in talks with Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. The club is ready to trigger his £62.5 million release clause. Amorim has also agreed on a move for Crystal Palace talent Adam Wharton, and Atalanta’s Ederson is being tracked as well. The Red Devils believe they will be able to sign striker Liam Delap, beating Chelsea in the process.

But, it’s clear Amorim might have to wait another season to sign a new No.1 between the sticks, assuming he’s still in charge by then.
