**West Ham** are reported to be locked in a three-way [transfer](https://www.claretandhugh.info/west-ham-transfer-news/) battle for Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters, with Everton and Tottenham Hotspur also in the mix.
The Hammers have been long-time admirers of the former Spurs graduate, but walked away from negotiations in July last year after Southampton demanded £25 million—a fee considered far too steep with just 12 months left on his contract.
Instead, West Ham prioritised the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has since been a revelation at right wing-back.
However, talks with Walker-Peters never completely ended, and Claret & Hugh understands that the club have a deal in principle to sign the 28-year-old once he becomes a free agent at the end of the month.
Interest in the player appeared to cool following Graham Potter’s appointment, but West Ham now appear firmly back in the frame. That said, we’ll face competition from Everton, who are seeking replacements for Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, and Tottenham, who may be keen on a reunion.
Like Wan Bissaka, KWP can play at both left and right wing back and therefore having both in the squad should not be discounted.
