Angus Kinnear has already won Everton fans over with incredible gesture ahead of Goodison…

Everton fans are in store for what is set to be an emotional weekend on Merseyside.

Goodison Park will host its final ever Premier League game on Sunday when Southampton come to town.

It feels fitting that it will be David Moyes who leads the Toffees out for the final time at the Old Lady ahead of their move this summer.

Everton have exciting plans to celebrate Goodison Park’s history following full-time on Sunday which will involve a number of club legends.

However, the Everton players will be expected to do the business on the pitch as they have not picked up three points on home soil since the start of February.

Local fans are certainly doing their part as they have lined the streets with Everton decorations ahead of the finale.

And it has not gone unnoticed with the newly-appointed CEO Angus Kinnear who has sent out his gratitude with some gifts.

The former Leeds United chief will be judged for what he does in the transfer windows, but he has already won some fans over with an off-field gesture.

Having seen the good work done in the community ahead of the final game at Goodison, Kinnear has thanked the local fans with a gesture of goodwill.

Kinnear issued a personal letter to the local residents and included a crate of beer for the households surrounding Goodison Park.

‘I wanted to take a moment to reach out and send my very best wishes for your upcoming Everton themed street party, which my colleagues in the Fan Centre have made me aware of,’ he said.

Even in my short time at the Club, it’s already clear how special the relationship is between our football club and its neighbours. The sense of community around Goodison Park is something truly unique — and I’m told this is a reflection of the warmth and pride you’ve shown as our neighbours over many years.

To help you enjoy the celebrations, we’ve arranged a small gesture of support — including a liquid donation from our friends at Carling and from all of us at the Club. I hope it adds something to what I’m sure will be a brilliant and memorable day for the L4 community.’

Kinnear has already addressed Everton fans in his first interview for the club earlier this week where he addressed some major topics.

A big summer awaits Kinnear and the new recruitment team at Everton, but he has certainly gotten off to a good start with the fans.

Everton will not demolish Goodison Park

Earlier in the week, it was also revealed that Goodison Park would not be demolished following the finale this weekend.

Everton will rehome their women’s team to Goodison Park as the Friedkins look to carry on the legacy of the historic stadium.

Some fans will have mixed views on this as Sunday’s game will actually not be the final time a game in played in L4.

However, keeping Goodison Park could provide PSR boosts for Everton with the Friedkins potentially able to take advantage of some Premier League loopholes.
