Aston Villa goalkeeper Filip Marschall has enjoyed an excellent season on loan with League Two Crewe Alexandra - and an offer could be made this summer to sign the young stopper on a permanent basis.
Marschall, 22, joined Villa in 2018 from non-league Cambridge City, and he has since had loan spells with Gateshead and MK Dons, but it is this year when he has enjoyed an extended stay in a senior first-team environment.
Crewe finished mid-table in League Two but Marschall only conceded 48 league goals having played all 46 matches in the division, and contributed to the team's performance over the course of the campaign by keeping 16 clean sheets.
Marschall's previous contract with his parent club was due to expire in 2027, but while on loan at Gresty Road he signed a new deal just before Christmas, so Villa are in a strong position when it comes to potentially fielding interest and offers this summer.
Reports elsewhere claim Preston North End are keen on recruiting Marschall after being left impressed by his performances in the EFL this term; the Lancashire Post write that they plan to add Daniel Iversen, the Leicester City goalkeeper, when his deal expires this summer, but that Marschall is also on their shortlist.
Marschall has played one game for Villa's first-team, that being in the Europa Conference League group stages last year. Under Unai Emery, he was granted a chance in their final game of the groups, in what proved to be a 1-1 draw with Zrinjski Mostar.
