Nothing is taken for granted at this stage in West Ham’s season – the club have more or less indicated everyone bar Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Aaron Wan-Bissaka would be available at the right price. Nine-goal Tomas Soucek has been the subject of big interest this week as ‘reports’ have come and gone regarding his possible departure in the summer.
David Moyes is probably Tornado Tom’s biggest fan having overseen his recruitment to West Ham and is widely tipped to try and take the Czech to Everton in the summer. Everton under the ownership of the Friedkin Group are likely to have a big summer budget and suggestions of his recruiting Soucek have been reported on Everton’s fan sites as much as on West Ham pages.
The response from Everton fans makes ‘interesting’ reading: From everton.news in their midweek article sub-headed: “ Everton fans worried after hearing David Moyes wants to sign Tomas Soucek“ comes “illuminating” Everton supporter opinions:
Most Read on West Ham News
“Terrible news for us. Old, expensive, not the best other than heading, s—. Don’t see the point when we can offer Doucoure less wages,” @RC021878 said.
“F— me Coufal and Soucek. Two players who simply are not good enough. Signing players from teams below us/around us will not improve us,” @Everton__1234 added.”
And the comments go on. Clearly opinion in Merseyside is as divided about Soucek as it is in East London: The Hammers’ “Marmite’ midfielder evokes strong opinions but his goals speak for themselves. Recent updates from Claret and Hugh’s sources at West Ham suggest that Soucek will be going nowhere this summer- which looks as it could be as much of a relief to Everton fans as to his Claret and Blue faithful.
