Man United flop to be allowed to leave Old Trafford

Manchester United suffered an 18th defeat of the Premier League season on Friday as they lost 1-0 against rivals Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The hosts dominated much of the match but were unable to break the deadlock until Marc Cucurella met Reece James’ clipped cross to head the ball past Andre Onana in the final ten minutes.

The result moved the Blues into fourth spot in the Premier League table and keeps alive their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, while United languish in 16th place in the top flight standings.

Ruben Amorim will be desperate to see his side beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday, but the Portuguese will also likely want to be busy in the transfer market this summer.

It appears, however, that one of United’s most recent signings could be allowed to leave the club already after failing to impress at Old Trafford.

According to CaughtOffside, United are ready to allow striker Joshua Zirkzee to leave the club this summer after an underwhelming debut season in England.

The Dutchman joined United from Italian outfit Bologna last summer but has scored just seven times in 48 games for the Red Devils so far this term.

Zirkzee is under contract with United until the summer of 2029 having penned a long-term deal when joining the club, but the report suggests that United could be willing to cash in on him this summer for a fee of less than £40 million.

Italian sides Juventus and Inter Milan are both said to be keeping tabs on the Dutchman’s situation, while Fiorentina could also be interested if they lose Moise Kean this summer.

The report also claims that Serie A sides could be interested in a loan move for the Netherlands international, who has been capped six times by his country.
