Newcastle United have been told they can have two-time Premier League winner after rejecting a…

Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign a quality winger this summer, but it will come at a big cost.

Eddie Howe has made it clear that he is expecting a big summer on Tyneside, and a deal like this would be a true statement of intent.

Newcastle United are in desperate need of bodies on the right side of attack following the departures of Yankuba Minteh and Miguel Almiron in the last year.

Although Jacob Murphy’s exceptional form has made their lack of depth in that position less of an issue, the need for more bodies is evident with Newcastle returning to European football next season.

Newcastle have been linked with several big names this summer, including £60m-rated Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo. Additionally, Newcastle are alert to Chelsea winger Noni Madueke’s situation as Chelsea look to bring new faces in.

Now, Newcastle have been named as one of several clubs that have listened to proposals for a former Premier League star who has won many trophies in Europe.

Newcastle United offered Leroy Sane on a free transfer

As we approach the end of the season, players nearing their contract expiration are being presented to top teams across Europe to tempt them into making an offer. That is the same case for Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old joined the German giants in 2020 following a successful few years with Manchester City, where he won two Premier League titles and an FA Cup.

However, it looks like his time in the Bundesliga is coming to an end, and a return to England is on the cards.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, there is a large gap in negotiations between Sane and Bayern, so his representatives have presented him to Newcastle and other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester United.

Reports in 2024 claimed Newcastle were interested in Sane, and that Howe was a big fan of the player after seeing him in the Premier League. However, it would take a significant wage offer to bring the German international to Tyneside.

Sane earns almost £400,000-a-week at Bayern, more than double what Newcastle’s highest earner, Bruno Guimaraes, is paid.

As well as more squad depth, Sane joining Newcastle would give Howe a player who has experience playing Champions League football regularly and someone who knows what it takes to consistently win trophies.

Despite proposals, it is believed that Sane is not interested in joining Newcastle at this point in time. However, Champions League qualification could sway him towards a move to Tyneside.

Contract negotiations have stalled between the player and their club, but Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is still confident the two parties can get a deal done.

“Leroy and his agency know what we want and they know the conditions,” he said in a Bayern press conference earlier this week.

“We hope he decides for us”
