Detective Inspector David Collins from our City of Manchester division said: “Last night while responding to an incident, our officers successfully recovered an illegal firearm and a significant quantity of ammunition. This represents another dangerous weapon taken off our streets.
“Firearms have devastating consequences for our communities - they can cause serious injury, loss of life, and create an atmosphere of fear. Every weapon we remove ultimately saves lives.
“We will continue working to identify and prosecute those who possess illegal firearms, as they have no place in Greater Manchester. I urge anyone with information about firearms and any other weapons to come get in contact with us using the ‘Live Chat’ function on our website, by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.”
