Villa target? Juve striker Dusan Vlahovic
Dusan Vlahovic, the Juventus forward who has been linked previously with Aston Villa this summer, is set to leave the Serie A giants at the end of the season having failed to agree fresh terms with the club.
The Serbian international joined Juve in 2022 and signed a four-year contract upon doing so, of which there is a year left to run. But with no new agreement imminent, it's expected that Juve will allow him to leave this summer in order to ensure they don't lose him for free next year.
Vlahovic, 25, is rated at being worth in excess of £40m by Transfermarkt and has scored 14 goals this season, including four in nine Champions League outings, although he missed the trip to Villa Park, which ended in a goalless draw earlier this season, with injury.
Attempts were made to tie Vlahovic down to a new deal, but reports claim those talks haven't proven fruitless and now a departure this summer will be accommodated.
Paying Fiorentina £66m in January 2022, it's expected that Juventus will want to recoup a significant portion of that sum as they prepare to welcome interest from around Europe - but an issue which is anticipated is Vlahovic's substantial salary.
Villa will be keen to recruit another forward this summer, but any signing will need to fall within their PSR parameters. Having sold Jhon Duran in the January transfer window, Unai Emery plugged the gap with the loan addition of Marcus Rashford, but he seems likely to depart in the summer despite Villa having a £40m option to buy, his own wages proving to be a huge stumbling block.
