Manchester City will look to sign two midfielders in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City have been handed a possible setback in their plans to sign an attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window. The Blues will look to reinforce their squad at the end of the season, with two new midfield signings targeted by head coach Pep Guardiola.

City added four players to their squad in the January window and hope to add to their squad with a goalkeeper, a full-back and at least two midfielders. They have already identified AC Milan ace Tijjani Reijnders as a top target for a defensive midfield role, while they also want to sign an attacking midfielder.

Morgan Gibbs-White and Florian Wirtz have both been linked with moves to the Etihad in the comings months, and reports have also tipped Barcelona star Dani Olmo with a potential move to Manchester. The 27-year-old only left RB Leipzig for Barcelona a year ago though and it is highly unlikely a move will happen anytime soon.

Dani Olmo agent breaks silence on Man City links

Dani Olmo is not expected to leave Barcelona this summer despite links with a move to Manchester City. The 27-year-old returned to his former club after his RB Leipzig contract expired, and signed a contract until 2030 that included a mammoth €500 million release clause.

The Spain international has netted 11 goals and notched seven assists in 37 appearances for the Catalan club this season and has no desire to leave. Sky Deutschland journalist Patrick Berger got in touch with the player’s agent, Andy Bara, to discuss the latest rumours and took to social media to lift the lid on the possible transfer.

“We are not talking to any other club," Bara was reported to have said. "Dani is very happy in Barcelona at the moment, he’s winning titles there and is part of a great team. The rumours are not true. But of course, you never know what the future will bring."
