‘Expected to leave…’Ruben Amorim boost as Man Utd-linked star set for summer exit after rejecting new deal

Some big changes are coming at Manchester United in the summer regardless of whether they win the Europa League or not, and one player linked to the club is now set for an exit.

Man Utd are moving quickly in the market, having sealed the signing of Enzo Kana-Biyik as one for the future, with positive talks for Matheus Cunha also taking place.

Liam Delap’s release clause should come into the picture after the Europa League final and United are in pole position.

Barring any disaster, that’s three signings sorted before the transfer window has even begun, and Ruben Amorim might make it four after recent developments.

Carl Rushworth expected to leave

Carl Rushworth is not a player Man Utd would have been linked to at the start of this season, especially when Andre Onana started the season on fire.

Since then, however, everything that could have gone bad for United between the sticks has gone bad, and as things stand, they have no clear No. 1.

Onana holds that position not because of his own skill and form, but because Altay Bayindir has been even worse.

As such, a new goalkeeper is increasingly becoming the priority. While United back Onana for one more season, a young goalkeeper with potential would be ideal who can play backup while also challenging the incumbent for his spot.

That’s where United’s links to Rushworth arrive, the 23-year-old goalkeeper for Brighton who’s expected to leave after rejecting the latest deal, as per TalkSport.

Carl Rushworth is a worthy gamble for Man Utd

Rushworth’s contract expires in 2027 and the player is set to leave, which makes him a worthy gamble for Manchester United.

They need a long-term prospect at that position who won’t unsettle the pecking order right away but will hold the potential to do so.

They have answers in-house as well, with Radek Vitek shining on loan, but if they want a trusted Premier League prospect, they could do a lot worse than Rushworth.

He won’t be expensive due to his contract situation, is the archetypal modern goalkeeper with his feet, and an underrated advantage is that he’ll help with the squad registration rules.

If Brighton are willing to play ball at a reasonable price, then Rushworth will become the kind of opportunistic gamble that can pay off handsomely in a few years.
