Real Madrid are set to sign a former Manchester United defender, according to reports from Spain.
The latest link comes following news of the Spanish giants triggering Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen’s release clause, which the Premier League club confirmed in a statement today.
The 20-year-old will sign for Real Madrid following the completion of the season, after a £50m break clause in his contract was activated.

Manchester United had been interested in the defender, along with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool, and were expected to launch a move in the summer.
Real Madrid have jumped the queue, though, and will add Huijsen to a backline also expected to include Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
And Los Blancos are not expected to stop there, with a former Manchester United defender reportedly next on the wish list.

Real Madrid moving for Carreras
According to AS, efforts in the Spanish capital are now focused on the signing of Alvaro Carreras.
The player will be available for €60m if Real Madrid are to sign him from Benfica, but according to the report, the club are looking to complete a more complex negotiation.
Manchester United sold Carreras to Benfica for just €6m, and included an €18m buy-back clause.
Now, Real Madrid are involved in three-way negotiations with both clubs and will attempt to convince United to trigger their buy-back clause, then signing the player from the Red Devils for around €30-35m.
While complicated, the deal is possible, according to AS, and is expected to be completed in the coming days.
Carreras joined United in 2022 from Real Madrid themselves, before he was loaned out to Preston North End, Granada and, ultimately, Benfica.
The 22-year-old has established himself in Portugal, and is now expected to re-join the club he started at.
