Erling Haaland gives missed penalty to team-mate in massive FA Cup final blunder

Dean Henderson pulled off an incredible save to deny Omar Marmoush from the penalty spot in the FA Cup final.

Trailing 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the first-half of the FA Cup final, Manchester City were awarded a penalty when Tyrick Mitchell fouled Bernardo Silva.

Erling Haaland had the ball in his hand and looked prepared to take the spot kick, even giving the ball a kiss.

But City's leading man turned and handed the ball to January arrival Marmoush, who has struggled to find consistent form since arriving from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Marmoush stepped up but his well-struck penalty was too close to Henderson, who made a stunning one-handed save with a strong outstretched arm to turn the ball away.

City were unable to follow up on the rebound to score, as Henderson gathered the following low cross into his six-yard box as the deafening roar from the Palace end continued.

Haaland consoled Marmoush after his missed penalty, but must have been wondering why he didn't step up to take the effort himself.

Fans took to social media to question why Haaland give up the opportunity, with one user saying: "No idea why Haaland didn't take that penalty."

A second added: "Haaland should be taking that penalty." Another said: "If you have Erling Haaland in your team he takes the penalty simple as." While a fourth agreed: "Haaland bottled it giving the penalty to Marmoush Imagine your top scorer kissing the ball and giving it to someone who’s taken 1 pen all season."

Henderson's penalty heroics and other stunning saves saw Palace enter the break 1-0 up thanks to Eberechi Eze's opening goal after 16 minutes.
