Manchester City medical staff were involved in a heated confrontation with their Crystal Palace counterparts during the FA Cup final at Wembley.
Things got heated on the touchline after Daniel Munoz’s goal was disallowed on VAR review early in the second half. During the celebrations, Palace’s medical team had gone on to the pitch to treat Ismaila Sarr.
City then went to restart the game, but Palace staff remained on the pitch ,treating the winger, with the Blues arguing they should have left the playing surface.
It led to angry scenes on the touchline, with City’s medical team leading the complaints. Palace first-team coach Paddy McCarthy responded and squared up with a member of City’s backroom staff.
It took the intervention of Pep Guardiola to calm the situation down, with Palace’s physios eventually leaving the pitch after treating Sarr.
The incident occurred as Palace players and fans celebrated what they thought was a second goal in the game. But replays showed Munoz’s initial shot had hit Sarr when in an offside position and the goal was chalked off.
