City defeated by Aston Villa in Under-18 Premier League National final
The Blues’ young charges narrowly lost 1-0 at Villa Park after securing our place in the showpiece by virtue of winning the northern section with 65 points after 24 matches.
It was a cruel way to finish the campaign which has been packed with highlights and standout moments which also saw us reach the FA Youth Cup final earlier this month.
Regardless of the loss to Villa in our season finale, our head coach believes his youthful squad has developed impressively this term.
“There have been a lot of experiences and things I’ve also learned [this season], he explained.
“It was a great first season for me and I’m very proud of the development of the team. Not just from two weeks ago [in the FA Youth Cup final defeat] to today.
“The whole season when we see the performances. Even if there were some faces that dropped a little bit our level but this is normal.
“We cannot forget the players are 16, 17 and 18-years-old so when I think all together, in my first season, a lot of interesting people I’ve got to know.
“The players are incredible talents and quality. Altogether, one more title would’ve been nice at the end because of the two final.
“But when I look back, maybe not now on in an hour, tomorrow or the day after I can just be happy about the season.”
