Manchester City were defeated 1-0 by Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Pep Guardiola was involved in a confrontation with Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson following their controversial defeat in the FA Cup final on Saturday evening. Eberechi Eze scored the only goal of the game as City failed to make their dominance count in a frustrating performance at Wembley Stadium.

City were furious at the manner of their defeat, which saw former Manchester United goalkeeper Henderson involved in a hugely controversial moment. The 28-year-old appeared to handle the ball outside his own penalty box but was not sent off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity after a lengthy VAR check.

Henderson was subsequently allowed to play on and was the Palace hero when he saved an Omar Marmoush penalty in the first half. City were awarded a spot-kick when Tyrick Mitchell fouled Bernardo Silva in the box, only for the effort to be stopped by the goalkeeper.

Regardless of how poor City were, the controversial VAR check had a huge influence on the full-time result, and Guardiola was frustrated with the decision. After the full-time whistle, the City boss was spotted in an altercation with Henderson, much to the delight of Palace and United fans.

Speaking after the match, Dean Henderson told BBC One: "Incredible. We had a feeling it would be our day today. The manager got a gameplan and we executed it. We deserve this so much. To be fair, Haaland might have stepped up. He gave it to Marmoush and I knew which way he was going. I knew I would save it."

When quizzed on the possible red card incident that enraged Guardiola, he added: "The ball carried into my box and I knew it was fine - who cares?"
