It’s all full-backs, all the time in the news for Liverpool as the season comes to a close. With Trent Alexander-Arnold confirming his summer exit, all eyes have turned towards how Arne Slot will replace him.
Of course, the hot transfer gossip is about the Reds’ interest in signing Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen. However, on Saturday the club confirmed a solution much closer to home.
Liverpool announced that Conor Bradley has agreed to a new four-year contract with the team, extending his stay to 2029. This is improved contract comes after Bradley made his senior debut and proved himself a capable back-up from Alexander-Arnold. Under Slot, Bradley made 27 first team appearances this past season, and is expected to start in Liverpool’s final two fixtures as well.
While no one expects the 21-year-old to be Slot’s first choice, confirming that someone with experience in the team is staying on is a good start.
About his new contract, Bradley said, “To sign another contract, I’m very proud and happy to see what the next steps on our journey together will be. You’ve just got to keep your head down and keep working hard.
“It has been a fantastic two years [with the senior team]. Especially since coming back from loan and doing so well last year and continuing that on this year. It’s been really good. So, hopefully we can keep going and keep making more memories.”
It’s comforting to see that the club is doing work behind the scenes to ensure that Alexander-Arnold’s exit will be as painless as possible.
