A former Newcastle United player has emerged as a shock candidate for a managerial role in the Championship.
Fans of the club have seen several ex-players move into management following the conclusion of their careers, with some performing better than others.
Jonathan Woodgate was named in Alan Shearer’s best Newcastle United XI, but achieved little as manager of Middlesbrough and Bournemouth.
This season, former Newcastle ace Scott Parker took charge at Burnley, guiding the Clarets back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. The Magpies could be dealing with Parker throughout the summer transfer window as James Trafford looks set to join Newcastle after a stunning season in the Championship.
Elsewhere, Kevin Nolan became Northampton Town manager after stints at Notts County and as an assistant to David Moyes at West Ham.
Now, another former Newcastle player looks set to become the manager of a Championship club who are in dire need of direction next season.

Hull City interview former Newcastle United player Emre Belozoglu for managerial role
Former Newcastle midfielder Emre Belozoglu played for the Magpies between 2005 and 2008, but failed to set the world alight during his three years on Tyneside before signing for Fenerbahce.
Like the other former Newcastle players, Emre has moved into management following the conclusion of his career, with all his roles being in Turkey.

Now at Antalyaspor, it has been confirmed by Hull Daily Mail that the 44-year-old has been interviewed for the vacant managerial role following the sacking of Ruben Selles, who kept them in the Championship on the final day of the season.
The report states that Emre is one of two managers in the running for the role, with the other being a manager in England who is currently contracted to another club.
Which Newcastle United players are likely to become managers?
With so many former Newcastle stars moving into management, it is fair to say that there will be many more from the current crop of players who will make the move into the dugout once their playing careers are over.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe completely agrees, and he even named three players he believes will become managers once they stop playing.
Howe named Joelinton, Dan Burn and Sean Longstaff as players who would make good managers in the future.
The 47-year-old chose Joelinton because he has a good tactical brain and understands the game. Howe also hailed Longstaff’s knowledge of the game, claiming that it immediately struck him.
On Burn, Howe said he has an unbelievable presence, a good knowledge of the game and a great attitude.
