‘This is what Oliver has done’ – Steve Parish hails Crystal Palace boss Glasner after lifting FA Cup in win over…

Steve Parish said boss Oliver Glasner changed the mentality of Crystal Palace after guiding the club to their very first major piece of silverware.

The Eagles lifted the FA Cup on Saturday at Wembley to win the competition for the very first time in their history.

Eberechi Eze’s goal was the difference during the game as Dean Henderson also stopped a first-half penalty from Omar Marmoush.

Palace have won promotion to the Premier League, securing safety every season since leaving the Championship in 2013, and now the FA Cup under Parish’s tenure as chairman.

“We owed them a trophy and we got them one today,” Parish told BBC.

“This is for everybody. For anybody who ever sent me a bit of encouragement when it’s been going badly.

“For all the people who don’t have a go at you and support you. All the people who stick with you and believe, this is for them.

“I’m so proud of the team and fans – everything. I honestly believed we would win. That is what Oliver has done.

“He said: ‘I’m fed up of coming second, we need to win something.’

“He came in with a different mentality and you saw at the end, I didn’t think they [Man City] would score.

“Dean Henderson was fantastic – all of them were amazing. It’s great for the cup as well.”
