Sky Sports: Everton star's agent has already been 'approached' following official exit news

Everton have now announced they will be parting ways with at least three of their out-of-contract players.

The Friedkin Group and David Moyes are having to make some difficult decisions on the future of the players in the squad inherited from the previous regime.

A lot has changed at Everton in a short space of time following the takeover in December, and more changes are to come.

Everton have secured a lucrative naming rights deal for their new stadium which they will be moving into over the coming weeks.

However, the Friedkins will be keen to provide Moyes with a squad of players worthy of playing in such a ground.

Ashley Young, Joao Virginia and Asmir Begovic will leave Everton following the club’s official announcement on Saturday.

But it seems one of them is already in contact over his next potential move.

Ashley Young in talks over next club following Everton exit

The 39-year-old still has two games to play in an Everton shirt before he officially waves goodbye to the Toffees.

Young commented on his Everton contract situation earlier in the day before the club announced their decision.

Following the news breaking from L4, Sky Sports journalist Dharmesh Sheth has shared an update on what could be next for the Premier League veteran.

‘Ashley Young has no plans to retire after Everton announced he would be leaving the club. Young turns 40 in July,’ he said.

‘His representatives have been approached by clubs at home & abroad. He will assess all options before making a decision that is right for him and his family.’

It had been suggested Young was to be offered a new Everton deal earlier in the week, but that did not prove to be the case.

Young was an excellent servant for Everton who offered a lot of reliability despite his age and that should reflect well on him ahead of the summer.

Everton set to make more contract announcements

Moyes is expecting Everton to spend this summer, but there will be an appreciation that there cannot be too much done in just one window.

Although there is money there to be spent, Everton will have to be sensible in not trying to completely transform their starting XI in such a short space of time.

Seamus Coleman is staying at Everton as his experience is viewed as key ahead of the move to the new stadium.

And the 62-year-old manager has already provided another update following the contract news to break on Saturday.

“Lots of factors influence our decision-making and we’re currently working through that process with the players, which takes time,” Moyes said in Everton’s press release.

“Some will have clarity by the end of this week, and for others it may get to next week, but it’s important it’s handled in the right way.”
