'I would probably'... Wayne Rooney says Man Utd should re-sign player Erik ten Hag let leave for free, they've 'missed…

The summer transfer window promises to be a very busy one for Manchester United with several positions requiring attention.

After the season Ruben Amorim has had at the helm, wholesale changes would not be unreasonable to expect from Manchester United.

For the first time ever, United have gone the entire Premier League season without consecutive wins, which has resulted in the club sitting 16th in the table.

Ineos are planning to make four major signings for United this summer, with other deals likely to be supplemented by sales.

United are pushing ahead in the deal to sign Matheus Cunha, while in addition, the quest for a new starting striker looks to have a result. This as United are favourites to sign Liam Delap this summer, but when asked neither of these two were on Wayne Rooney’s summer wishlist.

Wayne Rooney wants three signings at Manchester United this summer

Everyone will have different views on who United should be signing this summer, but Rooney’s are particularly unique.

Speaking with Amazon Prime Video Sport, Rooney was asked which three United players he would choose to sign for United if he was in charge this summer.

“First, I would probably sign David de Gea back, I think Manchester United have missed him, and I still think he could do a very good job for Manchester United.”

This is a shock choice, but De Gea has been very good for Fiorentina this season. Rooney then made his two other choices.

“The second one, I would probably sign Victor Osimhen as a number nine. I think he’s a really great striker and possibly available.

“The third one, it would be difficult but I would probably try and sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as a centre-back, I think he would have a really good impact on the club.”

Osimhen has been heavily linked with United and there is a chance he still could be on the cards. Meanwhile Guehi has not been linked, but he would be an excellent signing to fill the left centre-back position.

Manchester United should upgrade on Andre Onana but were right to let David de Gea go

Despite Rooney’s desire for De Gea’s return, it is a move United simply need to avoid as it was correct to let him leave in the first place.

Onana might have been a disaster, but that shouldn’t lead to De Gea’s return.

Instead, United should be looking for the next big thing, and in an ideal world this would see Joan Garcia arrive from Espanyol. However, he has suitors higher up the pecking order.

More likely to arrive, would be Vanja Milinkovic-Savic who United let leave for free when he was a youngster.

United should be looking to add a goalkeeper, and there are plenty of good ones on the market without turning to De Gea.
