Rudy Gobert speaks out over social media about drama with pregnant GF

Rudy Gobert is trying to set the record straight after details of some drama in his personal life emerged this week.

Reports broke on Friday claiming that the Minnesota Timberwolves veteran center Gobert had kicked his pregnant girlfriend, Julia Bonilla, out of their house. Gobert and Bonilla already share a one-year-old son and also now have a second child on the way.

The four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Gobert reportedly broke up with Bonilla before the start of this year’s NBA playoffs, allegedly requesting that both she and their one-year-old son move out of the house. You can read the full reported details here.

In a post to his Instagram Story over the weekend, Gobert spoke out about the reports.

“A lot of inaccurate information out there,” Gobert wrote. “Julia and I are currently in the painful process of re-defining our co-parenting relationship. Being a father is one of the most profound and meaningful experience[s] I will get to live. It is one of my most important life purposes and will be so forever.

“I’m fully committed to keep supporting the well-being of all the people that I care about,” added Gobert. “I’m asking everyone to please refrain from speculating and to respect our privacy in these difficult times.”

Gobert’s statement comes after Bonilla herself also released a statement over social media about the situation. Bonilla referred to it as “one of the most painful times in my life” and added that “I have NEVER EVER been unfaithful to the father of my children.”

Gobert and Bonilla both hail from France, and the two went public with their relationship over social media in early 2024. Despite the drama, the three-time NBA All-Star Gobert is doing well in this year’s postseason, averaging 8.9 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game as the Timberwolves are now back in the Western Conference Finals for a second straight year.
