Bayern chief hits out at 'nonsense' Florian Wirtz reports

Bayern Munich director Uli Hoeness has hit out at the 'nonsense' being reported in Germany regarding their pursuit of Wirtz.

It has been a chaotic week surrounding the future of the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker.

At points, it was said that he had verbally agreed a deal with the recently-crowned Bundesliga champions. Such reports were rubbished by sections of the German media.

It was followed by claims that Wirtz had travelled to England for a tour of the Manchester City training ground before it emerged that it was to meet Liverpool.

What is clear is that Liverpool are interested in the 22-year-old and have made it known to his representatives, the ECHO reported.

On Saturday following Bayern's final day win over Hoffenheim, Hoeness took aim at the reports surrounding their interest in Wirtz.

"What can I tell you now?" He hit back.

"You've been writing nonsense for weeks about him going to Manchester City, even though he was at Liverpool.

"We'll provide you with facts at some point, not more speculation!"

Jeremie Frimpong 'set' for Liverpool medical

The Athletic's David Ornstein reported on Saturday that Frimpong is set to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Liverpool.

The Dutch international has agreed a five-year deal at Anfield and will join the Reds with his release clause, around £30 million, to be triggered.

David Lynch also reported that Frimpong will travel to the region in the next 48 hours to be put through his tests ahead of signing to become Arne Slot's third signing since taking charge.

It has been billed as a big summer for Liverpool and already they are pushing ahead with their pursuit of reinforcements to successfully defend their Premier League crown.

Conor Bradley followed Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah in extending their futures at Anfield, as he signed a new four-year deal at the club.

The ECHO reported on Saturday that the Reds are pressing ahead with their plans to bolster the full-back position with the signing of Frimpong.

Talks have been held and his release clause is expected to be triggered, in a similar action that saw the transformative signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
