Marcus Rashford
An update has been given on Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford
Manchester United are set for a big transfer window under Ruben Amorim as they look to put what has been a poor domestic season behind them.
The concentration for United is on the Europa League final. A win against Tottenham on Wednesday night would not only see the club pick up European silverware, but also book their place in the Champions League next season.
United would have been hoping to go into the game on the back of a win against Chelsea, but Friday night saw them fall to a 1-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge.
It is said that the transfer targets for United in the summer will depend on the result against Spurs in just a few days. There has also been talk about possible outgoings from Old Trafford amid a big squad change.
Here’s a look at some of the latest news and rumours in and around Old Trafford.
£15m transfer boost
Manchester United could be handed a boost to their transfer pot due to their part in a transfer between Real Madrid and Benfica. According to Spanish outlet AS, there is close to being an agreement between United and Real Madrid over Alvaro Carreras.
United have a buy back clause of €18m (£15m) for the player, who has impressed with Benfica since making the €6m (£5m) move from United.
The report says that Real appear to have convinced United to activate the buy-back clause, with the Spanish giants then paying a fee of around €35 million (£29.4m) to United to sign the player. It would mean a profit of around £15m for United.
MEN says: The situation seems to be win-win for both Real Madrid and United. The deal would see Real Madrid avoid paying the £50.4m release clause in Carreras’ Benfica contract.
United would then see a welcome boost to their transfer kitty for what is a big summer for Ruben Amorim as he looks to strengthen his squad.
Marcus Rashford latest
Marcus Rashford is willing to take a pay cut to move to Barcelona this summer, according to reports in Spain. Mundo Deportivo claim that Rashford is willing to lower his wage to help any move to Barcelona with initial talks over a possible move to the Spanish giants already underway.
Sportalso claim the same and have added that he has offered himself to Barcelona on loan.
MEN says: Ideally, for United they will want a permanent deal sorted for Rashford, meaning that Villa triggering the option in the loan deal would be the best outcome.
However, if they don’t, then Rashford taking a pay cut could avoid United having to contribute to any of his wages if they do send him out on loan again. If they are able to get a decent loan fee from Barcelona too, then it wouldn’t be the worst deal in the world.
