When the Leicester City squad take a lap of the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon, all eyes will be on Jamie Vardy.
It’s a chance for City supporters to show their appreciation, and a chance for the striker to say goodbye to the fans who have backed him for the past 13 years.
But while they won’t be the centre of attention, there could plenty of other players bidding farewell. Relegation is likely to signal significant changes on the pitch, and potentially the dugout, during the off-season.
There are those who may have already played their final match for the club. Mads Hermansen, out for the season after groin injury, is a contender to be sold. Harry Winks and Jannik Vestergaard have been pushed to the fringes, and so potentially to the exit. Danny Ward and Daniel Iversen are out of contract. Odsonne Edouard will return to Crystal Palace.
But who else is coming to the end of their City career? Here’s a rundown of seven players (and one manager) who, like Vardy, could make their final King Power appearance in blue on Sunday afternoon.
Wout Faes
A summer move was first mooted in January and the Belgian’s name has been been mentioned on the transfer rumour mill in recent weeks too.
It feels like the interest is there. If the fee is too, Faes could be gone this summer.
Caleb Okoli
It doesn’t yet feel like City have seen the best of Okoli, and they may never do so.
Linked away in January after he was initially pushed to the fringes by Ruud van Nistelrooy, he’s only been slightly more involved in recent weeks, with his maiden goal at Brighton unable to help him keep his place in the team. A move back to Italy is a possibility.
Victor Kristiansen
The last time City were relegated, Kristiansen left on loan for Bologna and helped them qualify for the Champions League.
A similar switch feels possible this summer, and this time it may be permanent, especially with the Dane falling behind Luke Thomas in the pecking order recently.
Wilfred Ndidi
It’s not just City’s longest-serving player who is leaving, but maybe their second-longest too.
Despite signing a three-year contract last summer, speculation is rife that Ndidi has a release clause, and that could attract suitors from Europe or the Middle East.
Given his efforts over nine-and-a-half years, he would deserve a great send-off too.
Boubakary Soumare
Like Kristiansen, Soumare left on loan the last time City were relegated, and a permanent departure seems very possible now he’s down to the final 12 months of his contract.
He earned good reviews during his spell at Sevilla, and so his reputation in Spain still holds, while there is interest from French sides too.
Facundo Buonanotte
The one player here who is definitely leaving. Buonanotte will return to Brighton at the end of his loan spell having been one of City’s most exciting players this season.
If he can learn to show his qualities more consistently, a bright future beckons, whether at Brighton or elsewhere.
Patson Daka
Despite obvious effort when he’s on the pitch, it’s never properly clicked for Daka at City. An exit seems probable, especially as he’s entering the final year of his deal.
He nearly moved to AC Milan and Bournemouth two summers ago, but whether clubs of that stature are still interested remains to be seen. He should be cheaper than he was back then though.
Ruud van Nistelrooy
While he’s not on the pitch, it could be van Nistelrooy’s final time in the home dugout.
The longer the hierarchy avoid conversations with him, the more likely it is that he will be relieved of his duties at the end of the campaign. If he was staying, it would have made sense to tell him as such by now.
He will hope to sign off by going three matches unbeaten for the first time since his arrival.
