Man United winger Antony is set to leave the club this summer after his loan spell at Real Betis.

Man United will have a busy summer transfer window, with one of their priorities being the futures of Antony and Marcus Rashford, who are both currently on loan.

Rashford is at Aston Villa, who have a £40m option to buy him, but it is not yet clear as to whether Unai Emery will decide to keep the attacker, or if he will return to Old Trafford leaving Man United to try and sell him in summer.

Antony on the other hand, has not option to buy in his loan deal at Real Betis, but since he’s gone through a resurgence, he does have interested parties. Man United would like to make sure they earn a portion of the £86m they spent on Antony if they were to sell him.

Man United could swap Antony for Hudson-Odoi

The former Chelsea winger has made 29 Premier League appearances for Forest this season, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He has helped Nuno Espirito Santo’s side secure European football for next season.

Instead of going out and buying Hudson-Odoi from Forest, United could instead offer Antony in exchange, seeing as they have the need to offload the Brazilian. In turn, United would secure one of their summer targets, and Forest would get a worthy replacement for Hudson-Odoi, who has been important for them this season.

Hudson-Odoi’s current value is estimated to be around £20m, which is slightly more than Antony’s at this stage. However, if United could tempt Forest with the fact that the Brazilian winger has been resurgent at Betis, they could manage to get a deal over the line which could work for both sides. Hudson-Odoi is also approaching the final year of his deal, which could further tempt Forest to offload him.

How much could Man United sell Antony for?

The winger’s value has dropped significantly in the past three seasons, meaning that it could be tough for United to get value back on Antony considering that they paid £86m to sign him from Ajax.

To avoid making a loss in accordance with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules, United would have to sell Antony for at least £32.5m, something that could be tough.

Real Betis reportedly want Antony permanently; however, as they are a smaller club, it is unlikely that they would be able to afford him. With that in mind, United’s best shot at selling Antony for a reasonable price would be if Atletico Madrid were prepared to pay a hefty fee for him.

If not, then a swap deal with Nottingham Forest could prove a lucrative move by the Red Devils to help find themselves a replacement, and also offload Antony, who likely has no future at the club.
