Everton host Southampton on Sunday afternoon in what will be the final Premier League game ever played at Goodison Park.
Sunday’s encounter between the Toffees and the Saints holds very little meaning in terms of the Premier League table, but it will be a day for the history books.
Everton are set to take part in their final Premier League encounter at Goodison Park before they move to their new home at Bramley-Moore, now confirmed to be named the Hill Dickinson stadium.
The Toffees’ hierarchy have several plans in place to say goodbye to Goodison Park, and those on Merseyside arent happy.

Typically, when you say goodbye to something, it’s because you are more than likely never going to see that place again, and that will not be the case for Everton fans and Goodison Park.

While the Toffees are all set to move into their new home on Merseyside, Goodison Park will be going nowhere, with the Everton Women’s team moving into it as their new stadium.

For the Women’s side to have access to such a fantastic facility is, of course, good news, but Andy Dunn claims that a section of the Everton support were unhappy at the plan.
Writing via the Sunday Mirror (18 May, pg65), he said: “This was seen as an extremely positive move, but sections of the fan base were unimpressed with the plan.
“They were about to say farewell to a stadium that was going nowhere.”

Southampton set for history books for all the wrong reasons
Not only are Southampton going down as one of the worst sides in Premier League history, statistically, but they will also be the final visitors at Goodison Park.
Everton are massive favourites to seal all three points this afternoon, in a game that promises to have an electric atmosphere because of the occasion.
The Toffees will want to end their Goodison stay on a high, and this encounter provides them with the perfect opportunity to do just that in front of a crowd that will want to witness history in the making.
