Willem Geubbels is a potential attacking addition for Leeds United this summer.

Daniel Farke is keen to add quality to his side after securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time since the 2022-23 campaign.

The Swiss striker would fit the bill, as he has proved to be a deadly marksman in the Swiss league this season.

Leeds to seal £4.6 Guebbels deal

The Elland Road outfit are set for a busy summer as Farke reshapes his squad in order to secure survival in the top-flight.

A report from Sunday Mirror (page 68, 18 May) claims that the Whites are set to reignite their winter interest in the French striker when the market reopens.

It states that the 23-year-old, who notched 17 goals for St.Gallen this season, would be available for £4.6million due to a release clause in his contract that becomes active at the end of the campaign.

Guebbels would be a solid gamble for Leeds

Farke is looking for Premier League-proven talent to add vital experience to his squad but taking a gamble on a high-scoring striker could pay off.

The Whites took a gamble on midfield maestro Ao Tanaka last season, signing him for £2.9m from Fortuna Dusseldorf and he emerged as one of the key assets of their promotion campaign.

If Guebbels can adapt to English football, there is no reason why he cannot be a successful acquisition and help fire the Peacocks to safety and avoid the same fate as the newly-promoted teams this season.

The Yorkshire outfit needs more goals, with the likes of Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe failing to fully convince in the second tier last time out.

At under £5m, the former Lyon man could be the difference between retaining their place in the elite division or coming straight back down to the Championship and having to do it all again.

Of course, they need to add experienced top-flight assets, such as Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas but not every signing needs to come with it, some players can thrive on their debut campaign in a new league, whether Guebbels is one of them, remains to be seen.
