Manchester United are plotting a move to sign Sporting CP star Pedro Goncalves in the summer transfer window, according to a report from Theatre of Red.
It could be a busy window for the Red Devils after such a disappointing campaign, as they sit just above the relegation zone in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim will be desperate for reinforcements as they aim to head back in the right direction, and their game on Wednesday night could be crucial.
If United are victorious against Tottenham Hotspur, they will qualify for the Champions League ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign, and that could give them a strong chance of attracting a higher calibre of player.

According to a report from Theatre of Red, Manchester United are interested in signing Sporting CP star Goncalves. The attacker has been described as 'remarkable', and he's a player who wouldn't need much introduction to Amorim's system.

Describing Goncalves, Between The Lines labelled the star as 'among the best in Europe', as well as calling him 'elite'. As previously mentioned, Goncalves has already played under Amorim and knows what the Portuguese coach demands. Amorim needs to find players he trusts and knows can work in his system, and it's been a disastrous tenure for him so far, except for their progress in the Europa League.
Despite United's struggles in England's top flight, they should still be able to attract players from the Portuguese league to come to Old Trafford. Goncalves was a regular under Amorim during his time at Sporting, and there's no doubt he would be a smart addition to United, regardless of his affiliation with the manager.
