The season might not yet be finished, but it won’t be long before Nottingham Forest start turning their attention towards next season and the addition of some new players.
The Reds are guaranteed European football of some sort and after Crystal Palace won the FA Cup yesterday, it looks like the Conference League might be the competition which Forest enter.
Still, with West Ham to play today and Chelsea to come on the final day of the season, Forest can still look after themselves and enter the Europa League should both games be won.
Forest will have a number of irons in the fire when it comes to signing players during the summer transfer window, with every area on the pitch likely to be reinforced by them.
After yesterday’s FA Cup final, it could now be full steam ahead when it comes to the addition of one player in particular who remains linked with a move to Forest.

Nottingham Forest now have golden chance to land James McAtee
The Reds have been linked with Manchester City star McAtee for some time now and yesterday, he was handed what is likely to be his final snub by Pep Guardiola.
Despite performing superbly well in some previous rounds, McAtee was snubbed for the final yesterday and wasn’t even named on the substitutes bench as the Citizens lost to Palace.
McAtee is now surely set to leave the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Forest one of the clubs very keen to bring him to the City Ground, with the future of Morgan Gibbs-White currently up in the air.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The number 10 can operate in a number of positions in the final third and as a player with an abundance of talent, he looks like the type of player who could excite the Forest fan base.
How much Forest will need to pay for McAtee
It’s been claimed that Manchester City might well accept £35 million for the services of McAtee, although on the back of this snub, that sum might actually prove to be a lot less.
Forest are going to be extremely busy this summer. During the 2024/25 campaign, the team have been found out when it comes to squad depth and Nuno Espirito Santo will want to rectify that.
McAtee fits the profile down to the ground of the type of player that Forest have looked to sign in recent windows and hopefully, the Reds have now moved a step closer to his signing this summer.
