How West Ham Have Lined Up Recently

Potter is expected to alter West Ham’s lineup for the Hammers’ final home match of the season to give departing players a final match in front of their home crowd.

Alphonse Areola is West Ham’s first-choice goalkeeper however, despite keeping a clean sheet in his last match, Łukasz Fabiański is expected to make his 216th appearance for the Hammers. His most recent match came in early January where Crystal Palace took all three points from the London Stadium.

Potter’s style of football consists of a back five consisting of two wing-backs, who are most often Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Oliver Scarles. The centre backs against Manchester United were Jean-Clair Todibo, Aaron Cresswell and Max Kilman, with Wan-Bissaka and Vladimir Coufal out wide. This was Coufal’s first start since the 1-1 home draw against Simon Rusk’s Southampton.

The midfield comprised of Guido Rodriguez, who had his first start for the Hammers since Potter’s first league match, James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus have been consistent starters for the Hammers with Niclas Fullkrug starting upfront when available for selection due to his recurring injury. Bowen scored his 12th goal of the season at the weekend, with 11 of those coming within the Premier League. He is currently five from his league tally last year.

West Ham Recent Form

Potter has won just four matches since his appointment in early January after he replaced Lopetegui who was sacked after a 4-1 away defeat to Manchester City who narrowly lost the A Cup final to Crystal Palace on May 17.

This poor run of form, which saw the Hammers drop points against Southampton, Liverpool and Brighton due to late goals, saw West Ham slip as far down as 17th in the Premier League.

That being said, in their last match they beat Manchester United 2-0 away at Old Trafford. Soucek opened the scoring in the 26th minute with Bowen doubling the advantage early in the second half. This result has given West Ham a league double over the Red Devils, with their 2-1 win earlier in the season resulting in Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.

This result leaves West Ham in 15th, ahead of Manchester United in 16th and Tottenham in 17th.

West Ham Injuries To Consider

Potter will have just two injuries to take into account when choosing his team selection for West Ham’s clash against Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.

Crysencio Summerville, who was signed from Leeds United in the summer transfer window, is ruled out until the end of the season with a hamstring injury, and Michail Antonio is out with a broken leg.
