Jrue Holiday wants to stay with Boston Celtics

Jrue Holiday expressed his strong desire to remain with the Boston Celtics despite their recent playoff exit. He believes the team still has a great chance to compete for a championship and wants to be part of that journey.

Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday made it clear he wants to stay with the team despite their tough playoff exit against the New York Knicks. Speaking after the season, Holiday expressed confidence in the Celtics' championship window and his desire to be part of it.

“I think we still have a really, really great opportunity and a great window to be successful and win a championship again,” Holiday said in a press conference interview. “The opportunity to win is now, and I still want to be a part of that.”

Holiday, 34, just finished the first year of his four-year, $134 million deal. During the 2024–25 regular season, he averaged 11.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game while shooting 44.3 percent from the field. In the playoffs, he put up 9.5 points and 4.0 assists over eight games.

Reflecting on the Celtics’ early exit, Holiday admitted it felt like a missed opportunity.

“We had the best team in the league,” he said. “We felt like we let the organization down and the city down.”

Despite often leading in the series, Boston couldn’t close out games when it mattered most.

“I think most of the games that we actually played, we were up quite a bit,” he added. “Sometimes you kind of figure things happen, and it didn’t really go our way.”

Holiday also updated on his health, confirming he has fully recovered from a finger injury suffered before the playoffs and won’t need surgery. “The bone healed, so I’m fine,” he said.

When asked about possible roster changes, Holiday stayed focused on what he can control, leaving decisions to the front office.

“Who comes back, roster change, and things like that—it’s not really in my control,” he said. “So I just focus on what I can.”
