Report: Leeds now eyeing move to sign £110,000-a-week Premier League forward for Farke, he's…

Leeds United could make a smart move to sign Newcastle United star Callum Wilson in the summer transfer window, according to reports - with the Championship titleholders in the market for attacking recruits to boost their spell in the Premier League after winning promotion earlier this month.

An injury-hit few seasons has somewhat caused a detriment to the end of his Newcastle spell, and Wilson hasn't scored so far this season, having been punted down the pecking order in favour of Alexander Isak, who has been in red-hot form - leaving Wilson to depart, and Leeds could swoop to sign the experienced talisman.

Daniel Farke has seen Joel Piroe win the Championship top goalscorer award with 19 goals to his name, but their backup options have barely scored this season; Mateo Joseph has scored just three, Largie Ramazani has featured mainly off the bench, and Patrick Bamford failing to get on the scoresheet sums up the final knockings of his Leeds spell.

With that in mind, Wilson - who is out of contract in the summer - is available and he could make his way further south for a free transfer. Wilson, who earns £110k-a-week, joined the Magpies after leaving Bournemouth in a £20million deal back in 2020, scoring 47 Premier League goals in just 111 appearances for the club, firing them to the Champions League and playing a part of their success in the League Cup.

One start alongside hamstring and back issues have hindered him, but when he does play, he's a natural goalscorer and those goals on big occasions could be crucial for Leeds, who will look to buck the trend of the three promoted teams going straight back down, which has happened over the past two seasons.

Leeds came ninth in their return to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa, having had Bamford in superb form with 17 strikes, but there are no guarantees over Piroe hitting that sort of form in the top-flight.
