Everton transfer, Leeds United stay and the options for Jack Harrison in summer window

The future of Leeds United loanee Jack Harrison is uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.

The winger has spent the last two seasons on loan with Premier League side Everton after putting pen to paper on a new deal with Leeds just a few months earlier.

However, the deal doesn’t have any option or obligation for Everton to buy him as part of the agreement. Therefore if they wish to make the deal permanent, then the Blues will have to negotiate with Leeds again to agree a fee between the two clubs.

If that happens is still to be seen. Harrison has had a mixed season at Goodison Park this campaign, leading to speculation in January that his spell at the club could be cut short.

In the end he stayed with the Toffees and has seen his game time increase. But there is still uncertainty over where he will be at the start of next season.

With that in mind, here’s a look at just some of the possibilities...

Everton

Everton boss David Moyes is ‘open’ to Harrison staying at the club on a more permanent basis. The i Paper reported last month that Moyes likes the player’s attitude, with him becoming a regular sunce the Scot took over.

After struggling for regular starts under former manager Sean Dyche, Harrison has established himself as first choice under Moyes. He has made 36 appearances in all competitions for Everton this season, scoring once.

Fulham

Amid the speculation over Harrison’s future back in the January transfer window, one of the teams to be linked with an interest was Fulham. The Daily Mail reported that Fulham were showing an interest in the winger during the January window.

The Cottagers could potentially reignite that interest in the summer window. Marco Silva will be looking to strengthen ahead of another possible European push next season.

MLS teams

In March, it was reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post that Harrison could make a move back to Major League Soccer in America. Harrison broke through at New York City FC, making 61 appearances for the club before joining Manchester City.

It was reported that ‘exploratory conversations’ have taken place with club representatives over a possible return to the United States.

Leeds stay

There is, of course, the possibility that Harrison could stay and help Leeds upon their return to the Premier League. Having not worked with the player during his two seasons at the club, Whites boss Daniel Farke is understood to be likely to make a call in pre-season over the player’s future.

If he is impressed and feels like he would fit back into the squad then, Harrison could be reintegrated. Harrison will have three years remaining on his contract at Elland Road in the summer.
