Everton’s Goodison Park farewell against Southampton got off to an embarrassing start.
It was an emotional afternoon as the Blues said goodbye to their 132-year-old stadium on 18 May as they prepare to move to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the new season.
Goodison will remain as a home for Everton Women but for many supporters, it is the final time that they will attend the Grand Old Lady.
Their final time at their beloved stomping ground was marred by an embarrassing moment before a ball had even been kicked.

Z-Cars embarrassment sums up Everton
David Moyes‘ side usually get fired up for the contest with a rendition of Z-Cars, which plays over the speakers as the players walk out.
MORE TOFFEES STORIES
However, on this occasion, the music cut in and out as it was played in a highly embarrassing gaffe in such a prestigious moment.
The scenes were not at all fitting for their Goodison farewell and threatened to put a dampener on the emotional event.
Everton scenes are just their luck
The Toffees are often mocked by their rivals, Liverpool, for not winning a trophy since the 1995 FA Cup.
Their luck at Goodison in recent years has not been very good, with points deductions and relegations a theme of the Farhad Moshiri era.

Everton’s league finishes during the Moshiri era
The Blues have also not played European football since their Europa League campaign in 2017/18, although Moyes is trying to change that, it will be a tough task given the circumstances on the blue half of the city.
Even against the Saints, they had two goals ruled out through Beto being offisde, which sums up the way things have gone for them recently.
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler labelled the club as a “fully fledged laughing stock” for the eight years that the British-Iranian businessman was in charge amid the constant chaos that was happening at the historic club.
No matter the result, it will be a day of celebration on the blue half of Merseyside but the pre-match error threatens to make the L4 outfit a laughing stock once again.
Now, eyes will turn to an exciting new era under the Friedkin Group at the new ground and hopefully the Blues can capitalise on the momentum from their Goodison farewell and avoid any other high-profile gaffes in terms of within the stadium and the boardroom.
