Jamie Vardy has arrived for his last game for Leicester. In itself a pointless affair, but with this happening becoming a game with a very special aspect. JV9 is playing his last game for Leicester today on the 18th of May. It has been 13 years, on this day, since he signed.
He will be entering the field as captain of a struggling Leicester team. A win would be fantastic today, to add points. A farewell goal for Jamie Vardy would of course be special.
Ruud van Nistelrooy may not have achieved his goal to save Leicester from relegation. However, his respect for Jamie Vardy is phenomenal. His admiration for Vardy’s class is also remarkable. Ruud had little or no alternative. He did not hesitate to give JV9 all the trust and belief he had.
Looking in the back mirror we have a number of specials to talk about regarding Jamie Vardy. The oldest player he played with in a Leicester first team was Mark Schwarzer, the youngest Jeremy Monga. Schwarzer was born in 1972, Monga in 2009. The gap of years are 37. Knowing that Jamie Vardy was 25 years old when he arrived makes it an even more impressive figure.

We certainly hope JV9 will be out there to enjoy himself for his 500 appearance. That tally will be in the history books. If he can manage to score, he will be on 200 goals as well. This season so far in Premier League action has been 34 appearances, 8 goals.
The Leicester City Supporters Club Scandinavian Branch made a farewell coverage of the career of JV9 in their latest issue. It was published earlier in the week. This is a great tribute to a great player. He will forever be remembered as the GOAT for all of us here over the sea. Two members of our Supporters Club will attend the game today. They jetted in to be part of this very special day in Leicester history.
We all hope for a memorable evening. Hopefully also celebrating with a win this Sunday afternoon.
