Real Madrid drew 2-2 against Valencia on matchday 30 of Liga F. Below are my thoughts and views on the last match of the season.

Laia López started in goal after debuting last week against UDCA Tenerife. It was a different lineup in defense due to Lakrar falling absent at the last moment. Shei, Rocío, and Olga made up the defense with Leupolz falling back to act as the left CB. Toletti and Angeldahl made up the pivot duo with the front four of Athenea and Eva Navarro on the wings while Linda Caicedo acted as a #10 behind Redondo who led the line.
An expectedly messy game from the Real Madrid defense. It was easy to get the ball over to the attacking player of Valencia and it wasn’t a difficult task to find space to either shoot or make a cross into the penalty area. Luckily for Las Blancas in the first half, there were only 5 of those occasions where Laia López had to intervene twice. On the other side, Real Madrid had 14 shots only in the first half, 11 of which were on target and only 1 resulted in a goal. Most of those chances were by Alba Redondo whose 7/8 shots were on target and Canales denied her 6 of those. The heart of most of the actions was Linda Caicedo with her recoveries and distribution to the wings and Sandie Toletti with her readiness in front of the box to regain control over the actions.
In the second half Valencia managed to neutralize Real Madrid more, both in defense and attack. Real Madrid only had 5 shots on target and 1 goal. In the first 5 minutes, Redondo got her shot denied and managed to score an accidental goal shortly after the failed chance against Canales. Antonia Silva got subbed on later to play as CB, but the defense was still as shaky as before she came on which was the fault of how the game was set up already. Both of the rival goals were conceded from corner kicks, which marks a continuation of the tradition of conceding from set pieces.
The young striker, Paula Comendador got to play 30 minutes. In 83’, Olga Carmona got subbed of for possibly the last time following the rumors of her departure. In her place, Noemí Bejarano Beltrán got on and debuting for the first team. Noe became the third academy player to debut for the first team.

6’: GOAL (0-1) by Alba Redondo: Linda Caicedo recovered the ball then sent it to the left side where Athenea received it and sent it forward to Olga running into the box. Olga then sent a cross to Navarro on the far post, her attempt was saved but Redondo was there to put in the rebound.
49’: GOAL (0-2) by Alba Redondo: Athenea’s shot from inside the box got deflected off Redondo’s body and ended in the net.
66’: GOAL (1-2): A goal that was given to Laia as own goal after the clash with Browne and own defender on the goal line following Valencia’s corner kick.
89’: GOAL (2-2) by Ana Marcos: Another set piece goal. The ball arrived to Anita Marcos whose show went past the entire defensive line into the far corner.
With this draw, Real Madrid finishes the season with 76 points, breaking their record of 75 points from 2022/2023.
May 18th, the season ends. May 18th marks one year without you, Om. Your team turned 5 this year. I hope you watched this season from wherever you are even though I wish you watched it with us.
Every word I’ve written in the past year has been with you in mind and will continue to be so. I hope you get my purple hyacinths.
