Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is confident in his team as they face Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final. The former Sporting CP boss believes that he has witnessed a change in the mentality within the senior team recently.
The Red Devils have struggled to build any momentum this season, forcing their fans to experience a horrible overall campaign. United are currently 16th in the Premier League table after suffering 18 defeats from 37 games so far this season.
Their terrible performances cost Erik ten Hag his job, and Amorim succeeded the Dutchman to turn things around at United. However, Amorim’s vastly different tactical style of play and philosophy proved too much for the current United squad to handle.

The Red Devils maintained their momentum in the Europa League to reach the finals, where they face Spurs on Thursday. A potential Europa League victory against the Lilywhites would help the club qualify for the next season’s Champions League competition.
Speaking to the media before the upcoming final clash (via manutd.com), Amorim shared his confidence towards his United players to beat Tottenham in the Europa League final. He said:
“I am really confident. I feel that my players are ready for this game. They know what it means, not just for us but for our fans and for the club. After this season, we are ready to fight for the one thing that can help us remember this season in a different way. So I am really confident. We are living a season that is really strange because we are doing so well in Europe but, in the Premier League, we struggle. But we will be prepared for the final. It’s a different context and a different game. The most important thing is the change in mentality in my team. They compete and that is the most important thing for me.”
While Amorim is confident in his players, there is also the Spurs’ injury crisis, putting the Red Devils as favourites. However, Tottenham have defeated United twice in the Premier League clashes this season, enjoying a head-to-head superiority over Man United.
Spurs are 17th in the Premier League table with 21 losses and one point behind the Red Devils so far. Both clubs have faced a similar struggle this season, displaying vulnerabilities in several different positions due to various factors.
