Will Still needs to become Leicester priority in event of van Nistelrooy sacking

It would happen in the face of unfortunate personal circumstances. There is a real potential for Leicester City to add Will Still as the next manager. Previously announced, he will be leaving his current spot with RC Lens at the conclusion of the season and wishes to return to England.

His girlfriend, Sky Sports presenter Emma Saunders, continues to deal with lingering health concerns. Still has stated his desire to be closer to his family and partner as the reason for returning to the UK.

This opens up the possibility of the Foxes having a legitimate chance of adding the soon-to-be former Ligue 1 manager to the East Midlands side. For now, Ruud van Nistelrooy is, of course, in charge. Releasing him would likely cause a lot of unwanted additional financial strain on the club.

Decision-makers at City have a choice to make. They need to choose between sticking with RvN and giving him the full support that he needs or accepting the financial backlash and moving on to someone else.

If LCFC elects to move on from the Dutchman, Still would be an excellent choice. This partly explains the reports that are indicating that Southampton, for example, has already made contact to inquire about adding Still.

As things stand now, there wouldn't be a realistic Premier League opening for Still to potentially land at. In the Championship, however, there are numerous options. Certainly the Foxes would be one of the teams he'd consider if van Nistelrooy were to be released from his duties.

In terms of what Still would offer, it would be something that would bring some excitement for LCFC supporters to look forward to.

Intriguing possibility for Leicester supporters to look at

At Lens, his team attacks with precision and confidence. Not taking wasted touches or looking to play possession just for the sake of doing so, particularly when the counter is on. His players are given the freedom to take their chances and set up in positions to take risks in the final third.

They are also disciplined in the back, being among the best in terms of goals allowed throughout league play this season. These are the types of metrics and play that City would happily welcome to Leicester and have been starved of for too much of the current campaign.

RvN may be doing just enough in the closing stages to keep his job. If not, however, the Foxes could have their next man in Still.
