Manchester City suffered defeat against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
An early goal from Eberechi Eze inflicted a second successive FA Cup final defeat on Pep Guardiola after last season’s 2-1 loss against Manchester United, which means Manchester City will remarkably finish the 2024/25 campaign without a trophy.
Therefore, changes are needed this summer to ensure next term is a successful one, and a bid is now likely to be submitted based on a rumour coming from the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City set to bid for Eberechi Eze
A story from Football Insider recently claimed that Manchester City would bid for Eze if the Crystal Palace No.10 impressed in the FA Cup final, which is exactly what happened.
The England international scored the only goal of the game with a smart volley, but not only that.

Eze completed 87% of his passes on what was a tidy performance in possession, also showing great physicality on the ball by winning four of his seven attempted ground duels.

Furthermore, the man from Greenwich won three freekicks for Crystal Palace, relieving the pressure at crucial stages of the game, which surely both impressed and frustrated Guardiola.
What Erling Haaland said about Eberechi Eze ahead of the FA Cup final
If Manchester City do end up signing the Crystal Palace talisman this summer – who has a £60m release clause – their very own talisman will presumably be pleased.

Erling Haaland praised Eze before the FA Cup final, telling the official Manchester City site: “They have lots of good players so it’s going to be a difficult game. Eze is an amazing player, and I really like him. I like the centre-backs as well, their defence is really good.”
The Crystal Palace star can now boast 13 goals and 11 assists in 41 appearances this season, and should Manchester City manage to get him playing behind Haaland in attack, we would assume that his tally of assists would increase substantially next season.
