Jeremie Frimpong is set to have his Liverpool medical next week, flying in ahead of a £30m transfer from Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Liverpool have pinpointed Frimpong as the heir to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who's set to depart the club when his contract expires on June 30. The Reds have acted swiftly to secure the signature of the Dutch international.
Leverkusen are eager to sort out the situation as they hunt for a replacement for head coach Xabi Alonso, who's tipped to join Real Madrid. A £30m release clause has sped up the deal.
Frimpong had expressed his eagerness to join the Premier League champions and with personal terms now settled, the versatile Dutch defender is on the brink of becoming Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes' first summer signing.
The defender is expected to ink a five-year deal after his medical, marking the start of a new era for the champions beyond Alexander-Arnold on the right side of their defence, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Frimpong joined Leverkusen in the summer of 2021 from Celtic and quickly became an integral part of die Werkself's squad, especially last season when he netted 14 goals and provided a dozen assists, helping Alonso's team clinch the Bundesliga title without a single defeat.
The speedy wing-back hasn't been as prolific this season, scoring five goals and setting up six in 33 matches, but he was rested for Saturday's 2-2 draw at Mainz in anticipation of his move to Merseyside.
The £30m agreement is likely to be seen as a steal for Liverpool, considering the age and calibre of the Dutch international who played a key role in Leverkusen's domestic double victory last season before they fell short in the Europa League final against Atalanta.

Progress on the Frimpong deal follows Conor Bradley's commitment to a new, long-term contract at Anfield this Saturday.
It's believed that the Northern Ireland international's contract extends until June 2029, a testament to his impressive development at the first-team level over the past year and a half.

Frimpong will be the third signing under Slot and Hughes's management, following the £10m acquisition of Federico Chiesa from Juventus last August and the £29m deal set to bring Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia later this year.
He will join fellow Dutch internationals Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch, making him the fourth player from the Netherlands in the Liverpool squad.
