Manchester United have reportedly submitted an offer for Aston Villa shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez, according to a report from DSports.
The Red Devils' supporters have had reservations over their current goalkeeper Andre Onana who has seen spurs of inconsistent form since his arrival at Old Trafford in 2023. Particularly after the Cameroonian was left out following a calamitous display against Lyon in the Europa League this season, many thought his days at the club were numbered.
Boss Ruben Amorim already has plenty of other priorities to tend to in his squad, but a goalkeeper change this summer has not been ruled out. Now, his side could make a move for one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Martinez.

There have been murmurs of a potential change in the goalkeeping department at Villa Park, with number one Martinez linked to an exit this summer. The "world-class" 32-year-old was seen in tears after Aston Villa's final home game of the season, perhaps bidding farewell amid rumours of a move to the Saudi Pro League.
As per DSports, Martinez could also have offers from Manchester United and Barcelona, should he wish to continue plying his trade in Europe.

It remains to be seen whether Villa open up to the prospect of their first-choice goalkeeper leaving for a Premier League rival. Nonetheless, it would be an impressive coup for Manchester United if they are able to lure the World Cup winner into Amorim's squad.
Martinez enjoyed another strong season at Aston Villa, helping them to another European finish in the Premier League coupled with a run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Although he may not be a precise fit for Manchester United's long-term squad plans, having a pair of safe and reliable hands between the sticks could be useful regardless.
