Harvey Elliott: Liverpool Need To Be “Fully Committed, Fully Focused” For Brighton

We have reached the part of the season where there is often low stakes left to play for as teams become entrenched in their spot in the table. That holds true for [Liverpool](https://liverpooloffside.sbnation.com/) and Brighton when they face off on Monday. The Reds wrapped up the Premier League title weeks ago, and Brighton are out of contention for European spots.

Harvey Elliott, however, still finds importance in the remaining matches. He, along with several others, have potential opportunities to impress after not playing many minutes as Liverpool were racing towards their 20th top flight title.

“I think we need to be 100 per cent focused within the games. We need to treat it as an important game, which they are for some players because some of us haven’t played as much this season. On top of that it’s good fitness, it’s a good runout, and especially with the summer coming up, we have big tournaments as well, so it’ll be good fitness and good game exposure for us.”

Harvey feels that there is still plenty to play for over the final two matches, primarily pride for themselves. He says it’s also just nice to be able to go out and enjoy playing a match of footy.

“I think just more for ourselves as well to establish why we are champions and put in performances to show that. It’s two tough teams, one away game, one home game. As I said, we just need to be fully committed, fully focused and treat it like a normal game and not show disrespect. We want to go out there, we want to win and it’s good game exposure for us. Going out and playing football is always a lovely moment and to enjoy it is a big part of it as well.”

As for Monday, Harvey Elliott has a healthy dose of respect for a Brighton side that typically plays a fluid style of football. He knows the squad need to be committed and focused in order to get a result.

“Brighton are an amazing team and have an amazing style of play. They work on it each and every week and cause many teams problems so it’s not going to be an easy game, that’s for sure. We just need to make sure that we’re ready, we’re fully committed, fully focused and hopefully we can go and get the job done.”
