Loans play an important part in developing Manchester United’s youngsters.
A spell in the lower divisions can often give a young player their first taste of men’s football, with an experience of the increased physicality important for Premier League preparation.
Ethan Wheatley, Daniel Gore, and Joe Hugill have all spent time on loan this season in League One and League Two.

But the loan system can work for more established players, also.
Antony is one massive beneficiary. The winger was struggling for match time at Manchester United, and was loaned to Real Betis in January.
And in La Liga, the Brazilian has thrived.
Scoring nine goals and providing five assists, the winger found his feet and now has a Europa Conference League final to look forward to.
While the benefits to Antony are huge, Manchester United are also set to profit in a big way.

The player’s value has risen exponentially and will either provide United with a revitalised player next season, or a chunky transfer fee in exchange for his departure.
Hugill to return
One player who will be returning to Old Trafford, is Joe Hugill.
The striker spent the first half of the season in League One with Wigan Athletic, scoring five goals in all competitions.
He struggled for match time in December, though, and was recalled by United in January.
Hugill was then subsequently sent on loan to League Two with Carlisle United, scoring two goals in the second half of the season.
And the club from the north of England today confirmed the 21-year-old would return to United.
In a statement, they said: “The club would like to thank all players who have represented us this season and wish them well for the future.”
